Rya is a former public defender and immigration attorney specializing in delay-related cases. Throughout her legal career, Rya has worked extensively to uplift marginalized communities, particularly those impacted by incarceration, homelessness, and adverse immigration consequences. Rya remains committed to ensuring clients understand the nuances of their cases and strives to make herself available whenever necessary to answer any questions they may have.
Rya graduated from the University of San Francisco with a degree in Sociology and completed her thesis on the effects of prison institutionalization on formerly incarcerated individuals at San Quentin State Prison in California. This experience catapulted Rya into a career centered around helping those disadvantaged by the legal system. Rya went on to complete her Juris Doctor degree at the Gonzaga University School of Law, where she founded the Gonzaga Law Innocence Club, a student-led advocacy group that spread awareness of the injustices of wrongful conviction, execution, and incarceration in the United States.

As a public defender in the Pacific Northwest, Rya worked closely with individuals seeking asylum, refugee status, and other immigration benefits who had also been plagued by criminal charges. Rya is passionate about legal research and writing and works diligently to advocate for her clients in Federal Courts throughout the nation. Rya is dedicated to providing zealous representation and utilizing her legal expertise to assist clients and their families who are awaiting the resolution of their immigration cases.
