T VISA

FOR SURVIVORS OF TRAFFICKING

If you were forced to work or exploited, you may qualify and stay legally in the U.S.

Authorization to work legally in the United States while your case moves forward.

After three years with T status, or when the investigation ends, you may apply for permanent residency.

You may qualify if

  • You were forced, threatened, tricked, or coerced into working, providing services, or engaging in commercial sex.
  • Someone controlled you through threats, violence, debt, isolation, immigration threats, withholding documents, or other forms of force, fraud, or coercion.
  • You are physically present in the United States because of the trafficking.
  • You complied with reasonable requests from law enforcement concerning the trafficking, unless an exception applies.
  • You would suffer extreme hardship involving unusual and severe harm if you were required to leave the United States.
