Miryam Antύnez De Mayolo was born and raised in Lima, Peru. She holds dual law degrees, from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, in Lima, and from the University of Iowa Law School, where she was a co-chair of the Latino and Chicano Law Students Association. Miryam graduated from Iowa with a Juris Doctor degree in 1998. After two years of working with a general practice law firm in Waterloo, Iowa, Miryam founded and ran her own law office in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and then in Newburgh, New York, with a nationwide practice encompassing all areas of immigration law. She joined Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Dubuque in Waterloo, Iowa in 2018, where she primarily practiced removal defense and family-based immigration, until she joined our office in September of 2022. Throughout her extensive career, Miryam has trained and mentored several paralegals and attorneys; she is a member of the Diversity and Inclusiveness Committee at the Iowa State Bar Association and is a frequent speaker on immigration law and policy to her peers and the public in general. Miryam is passionate about advocating for immigrants and helping them navigate the complexities of immigration law.
In her free time, Miryam enjoys debunking immigration myths and stereotypes, spending time with her family, reading, downhill skiing, traveling, and working out.
