Our hope is that not only can we help a deserving student attain a post-high school education, but also that we can recognize an outstanding young person who has overcome challenges in life that others have not had to face. Application without access to traditional sources of financial aid, including DACA and DAPA recipients, undocumented immigrants, and students currently undergoing the green card application process, are especially encouraged to apply. Our $1,000 scholarship award will be given to out for the 2015-2016 school year.

Selection Criteria and Eligibility

All applicants hoping to be awarded the $1,000 scholarship award must meet the criteria listed below.

  • Submit a completed application
  • Be either a U.S.-born student whose parents are both from another country, or a foreign-born student who immigrated to the United States
  • Currently enrolled in post-high school institution or graduate school
  • Submit an original 450-word essay detailing why you or your parents immigrated to the United States and the challenges you or your family have had to overcome as a result

All essays should be typed in 12-point, legible font. Essays should be written in English, and should be spell-checked for errors  Winning applicant’s Essay will appear on our Immigration Law Blog. Additionally, all information submitted for the purpose of obtaining a scholarship should be accurate and honest. The selection of a candidate will be based on quality of writing, as well as the applicant’s ability to follow instructions and present a compelling story that details why the applicant is deserving of the scholarship award. Before the scholarship is given, proof of acceptance into a higher education institution is required.

How to Apply

Scholarship applications can be filled out and submitted online.  In addition to the application and essay, applicants will need to submit a copy of their high school transcripts.

All applications must be filled out and completed by May 1, 2015. Applications submitted after this date will not be considered.

Announcement

The winner of the $1,000 Immigration Scholarship will be announced in July 2015.
